IMP was founded in 2018 by Dina Bailey, Sarah Erdman, and Claudia Ocello as a Professional Network of the American Association of Museums. The organization became an independent collective in 2023. Over the past seven years, our talented Steering Committee—including more than 30 dedicated colleagues—has skillfully led the group and delivered a series of significant accomplishments:
Developing in-person and online educational and networking programs
Producing industry-leading reports and resources
Launching a listserv that enables IMP to communicate directly with each other about topics relevant to their work
Maintaining an active newsletter and social media to keep members informed
Exploring the viability of becoming an incorporated organization with a paid membership program
Recruiting and electing the first Board of Directors to lead the incorporation and membership process
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the outgoing Steering Committee members—many of whom continue to support the growth and vitality of our organization.
